Goodbye, Hello….the revolution begins!

Ok, let’s face it. Hello is going away. It isn’t coming back. I know…I feel like I’m homeless, too. What will those of us in the digi-scrapping field do after today? I have an answer for you, my screenshotting friends! My friend and CT Member, Jenny, found a plug-in for Windows Live Messenger! It is *not* Hello…but, it sho ain’t Goober, either!

*Allow me to intterupt the regularly scheduled blogging to tell this hilarious tale of irony…
As I’m typing this blog and watching my DVRed episode of The Hills, Season Finale (yes, I watch it…any questions, see the “About” section of my blog), I hear a Target commercial come on and it is singing to me. “Helloooo, hellooooo….I don’t know why you say goodbye…I say, Hello!” Are you kidding me? Now the TV is even laughing at our plight. Ok, back to the revolution!

Ok, here are the steps to getting the MSN Screenshot Thing-a-ma-bopper. Thanks to Jenny and her DH for helping me figure it out! Here we go…follow these directions carefully. It will take a bit to get it going, but once it is all together….it is SO worth it! And again, I say…at least it isn’t Goober. Sorry, folks at Goober…no offense. We can still be friends…I’m just going to see other people. By other people I mean Windows Live Messenger.

First, install Windows Live Messenger.

Once that is installed, download Messenger Plus! Live.

Once you have that running, you’ll need to download the Screenshot Sender. I saved mine to the desktop just to make it easy to find later.

Ok, if you’ve installed Messenger Plus! correctly, at this point you should have a pull-down menu that says “Plus!” at the top of your messenger (next to Help).

Click Plus!–>Preferences–>General–>Scripts–>Import.

Then, choose the SS4 folder. Inside the SS4 folder, you’ll need to choose the Screenshot Sender 4 Icon – it is a little stack of colorful blocks. Install it, click Apply–>Ok, =and you’re ready to rock, baby.

When you’re in a chat with someone, you will send a screenshot by clicking on the block icon (like the one you clicked on to install the script). It is right above the box you type in…next to the speaker icon. When you click it, you’ll get a drop-down menu. Choose the Screenshot Sender 4, and you’ll see the pop-up menu of screenshotting goodness.

There are a lot of cool things in Plus! You can make your own sounds to send…for example, I made a Hangin’ Tough file to send to Karah. :) I hope you enjoy it. See you around messenger. If you want to add me to your MSN, I’m jodie.mcnally@gmail.com.

In case anyone needs retail therapy to make it through the transition, I made a coupon code for 15% off in my store at Oscraps! Since they are killing Hello on the 15th, I figured 15% was a good number to choose.

Coupon code: goodbye_hello
Expires: May 16, 2008

If I disappear today, or if my blog gets attacked or all messed up by hackers today, we’ll *know* it was you, Goober.

A new obsession…

I have found a new blog-related obsession…

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman is one of the most entertaining sites I’ve seen….like EVER.  I love the way she writes and the photos are amazing…not to mention the awesome contests she hosts.  I almost didn’t want to blog about it – it might make my chances of winning even lower than 1/6,000.  Bah!  I wish I had a tenth of her readers! I will admit that my blog isn’t quite as interesting OR as profitable as Pioneer Woman’s.  At least I have someone to look up to in the blog department.  Pioneer Woman, you’re my hero!

Maybe I’ll do a Pioneer Woman themed word art pack! Oh my gosh…if she even reads this and wants a pack…I’ll croack! Soo, if you’re reading this and you happen to know Pioneer Woman – tell her I wanna make an “On the Ranch” Word Art Pack in honor of her greatness!!!

Peace out, yo…have a great Monday. :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Hey all! I have a few great things to share…one of them being a word art freebie! In case you don’t want to read my Mother’s Day ramblings…and you just wanna get the freebie, feel free to scroll to the bottom of this post.

This Mother’s Day is probably going to be the toughest one I’ve ever had. It’s been 3 weeks since Nan passed away…and it *still* doesn’t really seem real most of the time. My mom has been doing great…keeping herself busy with the legal stuff and all that…but I know today isn’t going to be easy for her. I tried and tried to think of a gift that would be really perfect and special and make her day better…but I just couldn’t come up with anything. I ended up finding the cutest little framed Isabel Bloom. Nan collected Isabel Blooms and my Mom has always loved them, too. I love the verse on it…so I hope it will be a bright spot in Mom’s day today.

We are potting little flowers in cups with the Sunday School kids today…so that should be a fun time! Hopefully it will not *too* much of a mess and we’ll end up with some cute Mother’s Day gifties!

Speaking of cute Mother’s Day gifties…Lily made me the best “Mommy’s Day” presents EVER! At her preschool, they made pottery ceramics with the art teacher! She made me a necklace with three beads, two little bowls, and a coaster with an “M” stamp. So, in case you’re curious how she did it, I’ll share with you the entire pottery process from an almost-four-year-old’s perspective: “Well, first we had clay. Then we rolled it and made it into the stuff we wanted to give you. Then they cooked it and when it wasn’t hot anymore we painted it and they cooked it again. I think they will need it back to cook it again for us.” I will post pics of the gift later today, hopefully! I am sooo impressed with it!

Last night, Shan took me out for a pre-Mother’s Day dinner – just the two of us. It had been a while, so we were really looking forward to it! Plus, dinner was *supposed* to be on Shan’s company, so that made the whole thing even better! He got a gift card as a thank you for his wonderful performance in April – I’m so proud! It is always nice to have good work recognized! So we go to the restaurant at 6:00. We’ve never made reservations there before, so the thought never occurred to us…hahaha! It was going to be a 90 minute wait…so we wasted a little time and then decided to check on the wait time at another place. We had always wanted to try it out, but it is probably the most expensive place in town…so we have never gone. Well, it just so happened that one of their 6:30 reservations was a no-show…so we got in! It was definitely *not* what we had planned, and we definitely did *not* have a gift card to help with the bill, but it was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had! We had so much fun talking and having a night out alone – plus we saw a few old friends…our waiter was actually a guy I went to high school with. It was probably the best service we’ve ever had – and not just because we knew him – he did a fantastic job with all of the tables! We really went all out with dinner – Shan decided we were going to get whatever we wanted and not worry about the price….just for once. It was sooo fun! We had some great wine with dinner, and even splurged and had dessert…Strawberries Romanoff (made right at the table)! It was way more than we usually spend on a night out, but such a wonderful time! Definitely a night to remember! Lily had fun with my parents, too! We’re so lucky to live close to them – and Lily is so lucky to have them close by!

Ok, ok, ok…I think I’ve rambled on long enough! Here’s the freebie I made for Mother’s Day! I hope you like it – maybe some of you even have a last minute card to make! If not, I hope you’ll be able to use it on those layouts of special Mother’s Day memories! If you download the freebie and make something with it, come back here and leave me a link…I’ll choose one random person to win a $5 GC to my store! Post your links in a comment here before Sunday, May 18th at 5:00 pm (CST)! Happy Mother’s Day!
