Happy Mother’s Day!
Hey all! I have a few great things to share…one of them being a word art freebie! In case you don’t want to read my Mother’s Day ramblings…and you just wanna get the freebie, feel free to scroll to the bottom of this post.
This Mother’s Day is probably going to be the toughest one I’ve ever had. It’s been 3 weeks since Nan passed away…and it *still* doesn’t really seem real most of the time. My mom has been doing great…keeping herself busy with the legal stuff and all that…but I know today isn’t going to be easy for her. I tried and tried to think of a gift that would be really perfect and special and make her day better…but I just couldn’t come up with anything. I ended up finding the cutest little framed Isabel Bloom. Nan collected Isabel Blooms and my Mom has always loved them, too. I love the verse on it…so I hope it will be a bright spot in Mom’s day today.
We are potting little flowers in cups with the Sunday School kids today…so that should be a fun time! Hopefully it will not *too* much of a mess and we’ll end up with some cute Mother’s Day gifties!
Speaking of cute Mother’s Day gifties…Lily made me the best “Mommy’s Day” presents EVER! At her preschool, they made pottery ceramics with the art teacher! She made me a necklace with three beads, two little bowls, and a coaster with an “M” stamp. So, in case you’re curious how she did it, I’ll share with you the entire pottery process from an almost-four-year-old’s perspective: “Well, first we had clay. Then we rolled it and made it into the stuff we wanted to give you. Then they cooked it and when it wasn’t hot anymore we painted it and they cooked it again. I think they will need it back to cook it again for us.” I will post pics of the gift later today, hopefully! I am sooo impressed with it!
Last night, Shan took me out for a pre-Mother’s Day dinner – just the two of us. It had been a while, so we were really looking forward to it! Plus, dinner was *supposed* to be on Shan’s company, so that made the whole thing even better! He got a gift card as a thank you for his wonderful performance in April – I’m so proud! It is always nice to have good work recognized! So we go to the restaurant at 6:00. We’ve never made reservations there before, so the thought never occurred to us…hahaha! It was going to be a 90 minute wait…so we wasted a little time and then decided to check on the wait time at another place. We had always wanted to try it out, but it is probably the most expensive place in town…so we have never gone. Well, it just so happened that one of their 6:30 reservations was a no-show…so we got in! It was definitely *not* what we had planned, and we definitely did *not* have a gift card to help with the bill, but it was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had! We had so much fun talking and having a night out alone – plus we saw a few old friends…our waiter was actually a guy I went to high school with. It was probably the best service we’ve ever had – and not just because we knew him – he did a fantastic job with all of the tables! We really went all out with dinner – Shan decided we were going to get whatever we wanted and not worry about the price….just for once. It was sooo fun! We had some great wine with dinner, and even splurged and had dessert…Strawberries Romanoff (made right at the table)! It was way more than we usually spend on a night out, but such a wonderful time! Definitely a night to remember! Lily had fun with my parents, too! We’re so lucky to live close to them – and Lily is so lucky to have them close by!
Ok, ok, ok…I think I’ve rambled on long enough! Here’s the freebie I made for Mother’s Day! I hope you like it – maybe some of you even have a last minute card to make! If not, I hope you’ll be able to use it on those layouts of special Mother’s Day memories! If you download the freebie and make something with it, come back here and leave me a link…I’ll choose one random person to win a $5 GC to my store! Post your links in a comment here before Sunday, May 18th at 5:00 pm (CST)! Happy Mother’s Day!

TY J-Mac!
