Day 4: The Spotlight hasn’t faded just yet!!
Ok, for starters….I am having so much fun reading the emails and comments that you’ve been sending my way this week! I am also LOVING all of the amazing layouts that are going up in the Designer Spotlight Gallery! Check out the challenges and play along to win FAB prizes!
Yesterday’s winner was FelisG….watch your email, Felis!
I was on my way here to post the little contest today, and stumbled across an AWESOME layout that totally fit the little challenge I was going to post here! So…I decided I should show it off!
Music has always been a huge part of my life…and the soundtrack of my life is certainly one that has changed with the times. However, I still love to listen to the songs from my younger days….even if it drives my hubby crazy!
This layout by sue.falstaff has totally inspired me (and it has an iPod just like mine)!
So…in honor of all playlists – current and of days gone by, I’m going to share some of my favorites with you!
Let’s begin…I’m going to try to go in chronological order, but don’t hold me to dates. I know what I liked…just maybe not necessarily in this order! Oh, and I’m not just going to tell you title and artist. You should know by now….that is NOT how I roll! I will be providing youtube links if at all possible, and if all else fails….I’ll be “singing” them for you as well.
These first few are song that I remember listening to with my parents and my Aunt Toto.
1. Jose Cuervo, Shelly West
2. Amy, Pure Prairie League
3. Angel of the Morning, Juice Newton
4. Jesse, Carly Simon
5. Islands in the Stream, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
The next few are from my elementary school days…ahhh, THOSE were the days! (See the April 13th post if you’re wanting a visual of me at that age!) These were the songs that I rocked out to in front of my mirror, Walkman on, hairbrush microphone….you know the deal. There are far too many songs for me to list in this category…and YouTube isn’t cooperating, so I won’t show them all, but you’ll get a good little taste of the 1980s Jodie.
1. Anything…and I mean AN-EEEE-THING by Whitney Houston. Here’s a little taste…
2. New Kids On The Block….whatever they sang….I loved. And still do, for that matter.
3. Tiffany. Anything by Tiffany.
She is of course, mostly known for her version of “I Think We’re Alone Now” but I loved all of her stuff. LOL!
Now, for the sake of time, I’ll list the others with links only…the following were some of my other faves during this time period: Mr. Big, Milli Vanilli, Debbie Gibson, Belinda Carlisle, Jody Watley, The Bangles….you get the picture.
That pretty much takes us into the 90s…when I listened to a lot of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The White Album, with a strange mix of the Weekly Top 40 Hits and some country thrown in (think Reba, John Michael Montgomery, Garth Brooks, etc..).
Ok, my tastes haven’t changed TOO much since the late 90s/early 2000s, so that will be for another post. Besides…that’s not really retro, anyway. I’m off to chat at www.oscraps.com so you should come join me….8:30 pm CST – which is RIGHT NOW!!!
To win the $5.00 coupon for today, all you have to do is tell me some of your favorite old songs! Post here by tomorrow (April 17, 2009) at noon CST.
Don’t forget to check out my challenges at www.oscraps.com this week – there are some amazing prizes!!!
