I’m in the Spotlight!

Yep…it’s a big week for me! Not only am I celebrating one year of being a digital designer….but I’m in the Designer Spotlight at Oscraps!  I’ve whipped up a great freebie, some rockin’ retro-style challenges, prizes, and more prizes to show my appreciation for the wonderful first year I’ve had at my digi-scrapping home!

You can read all about my challenges here…and then throughout the week I’ll be posting layouts by my team, old funny photos of me, and have some extra contests and freebies just for my blog readers!  To get even more of an inside scoop, make sure you are signed up for my newsletter…you can sign up over there <——– in the sidebar! :)

You’re going to want to head over to Oscraps to check out my challenges and find out how you could be the winner of coupons, free doodles, and free papers! Everyone who does at least one layout will recieve a prize! The more layouts you do, the more loot you’ll get!  I have tons of surprises up my sleeves (maybe they are bell sleeves like the ones I rocked during the 90s) this week….so stay tuned to my blog and newsletter for the inside scoop!

To get things started today, I’m going to be giving away a $5.00 coupon to one lucky person on my blog! All you have to do is post here about a favorite piece of clothing you had in year’s past – and that now makes you wonder if you even owned a mirror at the time.  What were we thinking with some of our fashions??? Let’s hear it…you don’t need to show a pic, but if you want to….bring it on, baby!

Here’s a pic of me to inspire you…scrapped by my team member, Deb (digideb)!  Make sure your comment is here by 11:59 CST tonight! I’ll be back tomorrow morning to announce the winner – and to give you another chance to win!

  1. Love the layout and the photo, Great job! I’m headed over to O’scraps for a look see…

I remember an orange leatard (sp.)…the ones that you slipped over your head and fastened with snaps in the crotch area, lol…and of course pink tights…but then that was way back in the 60’s too…ekkk….My Mother hated that outfit but being young I loved it!

  2. Hey Jodie!!!
Good look for these week and congrats for your first year!!! All my Lo’s just on the Gallery!! Hugs

  3. Hey Jodie,
    Thanks for the great wordart.
I remember a shirt I bought (fortunately not expensive) which was purple and glitter all over.
I get ashamed thinking about it. My son used it for a carnival so you must realize how terrible it was. (sleeveless and with turtleneck). Just plain horrible.

  4. I had the legwarmers and the matching sweater vest. Then my mom got us new ones with the long beaded necklaces for picture day. My sister in teal and I was in purple. Very cool!

  5. What a great idea for the designer spotlight! I love all of your work – Thank you. Wrap around skirts – this goes back to grade school, but I truly did think they were the ‘be all’ of style at the time…I’m talking early 60’s……….. and grade school!!!!

  6. OMGosh – tight black leggings and one of those sweaters that were supposed to come down over your rear end and cover things.
This one was peacock blue and black striped and they went horizontally instead of vertically.

I LOVED this outfit at the time but now I look back at photos and I looked like an Oompa Loompa!! It’s frightening actually!! YIKES!

  7. Hey Jodie

Great Layout! So many articles of clothing come to mind. I would have to say it was this pair of jeans I had. I don’t remember the brand they were, but they had pleats in the front, tapered legs which I then pegged really tight at the ankle. Pleats are not flattering and it is amazing what we though was so cool back then.

  8. Thank you for the wordart. This brings back memories- I loved those puffy painted shirts- I had a whole wardrobe of them in every color and tied them in a knot on the side.

  9. What big fun this is, I’m going to check it out! Have a nice week in your spotlight!!!

    GRTZ

  10. I remember the tye-dyed look. I remember taking some of my favorite jeans and bleaching spots on them! LOL Early 70’s and adding a patch of fabric to the legs of a pair of pants to make a bell bottom out of a pair of regular pants. I see some of that today funny how some of the fashions return.

  11. The HUGE T-shirt (probably neon also!!) that was then bunched and secured with an elastic at the waist. I couldn’t even wear those shirts now, they were so big!

  12. Oh boy – I had some doozies! I think my favorite was a my Mickey Mouse Sweater – in the 10th grade!! What the heck was I thinking???

  13. Thanks for the wordart. It’s fabulous and I can’t wait to use it! I think my favorite outfit was one I had in high school. This would’ve been late 60’s-early 70’s. It was a pair of grey denim hiphugger bellbottom jeans. The bellbottom part of the jeans were probably 12″ in diameter! I had a very formfitting (i.e., tight!) sort of jersey type top that was multi-colored I wore with them. The top actually fit like a leotard with snaps in the crotch. I don’t know what i was thinking. The outfit was horrid!! But I thought I looked totally HAWT!!

  14. Boy, does this ever take me back!!! I’d have to say the one that really comes to mind is the “tent dress”! I did most of my own sewing and had this yellow flowered mini tent dress…no wonder my dad flipped about how short it was!!!! Sheesh! I must have had a thing for yellow because I also had a yellow midriff top (low cut BOTH ways!!!) and a matching polka dot bellbottoms! hehehehehehe – and my daughter was soooooo ticked when she found out that I threw these out!

  15. I think the worst outfit I had (which I loved at the time) was a bright yellow sleeveless turtleneck dress with black polka dots. I would love to find a shot of me in that !!!
